There are many theatres, an Opera, an Operetta, concert halls, cinemas, museums and galleries. One of the largest multiplex cinema/entertainment complexes in Europe has recently opened and in addition, Sofia Land, a large fun park is a major draw for the people of Sofia.
Movie theatres in Sofia offer films with subtitles in Bulgarian, which is of significant help to foreigners. The capital’s central cinemas are Moderen Teatur, Rex, Serdica, Globus, Novo Kino Slaveikov, Odeon, Dom na Kinoto, Europa Palace, Moskva, BIAD, Bezhovo Kino. There are also cinemas at the Central Railway Station and in all Sofia quarters. Cinema fans will be interested in movie theatres like Odeon - featuring return films; Dom na Kinoto - art films by famous directors; Bezhovo Kino - for late visitors after 9 p.m.

They are: Ivan Vazov National Theatre; the National Opera and Ballet; the Musical Theatre (the Operetta) and the Arabesque Ballet next to the Levski monument; the Theatre of Satire; the Theatre of the Army; the Sulza y Smyah (Tears and Laughter) Theatre; the Sofia Theatre and Beyond the Channel Theatre in Madrid and Evlogui Georgiev Boulevards; La Strada Theatre (6th of September Str. and Aksakov Str.); the Academic Theatre with the NATFIZ Kr. Sarafov; the State Puppet Theatre (Gourko Str. and Rakovski Str.); the Mladezhki (Youth) Theatre and Sfumato Theatrical Workshop at Narodno Subranie Square; and Theatre 199.
